PHILOSOPHY
I am the artist WhiteShadow.
My artistic name WhiteShadow embodies a core philosophy. When the three primary colors of light mix they create White, and that same light inevitably casts a profound Shadow. I chose WhiteShadow to capture this duality of light and shadow using it as the foundation for observing the streets.
Currently based in Seoul I primarily work to capture the special "Ordinary Fantasy" moments found within the daily lives of Koreans. For me street photography feels much like winning the lottery. It is the sheer luck of having my camera in hand at the precise moment when the desired environment composition and perfect subject align.
I began my journey with a film camera in 2005. I initially wanted to pursue art but lacking the ability to draw well I sought a substitute tool for painting and chose photography. The thrill I felt upon achieving the desired result after taking a photograph still brings me immense joy even decades later. I am certain I will continue to photograph and pursue this happiness for the rest of my life.
